Healing Properties

Relieves "senile itching," helps with nervousness from mental strain, aids in nervous weakness and melancholy, prevents arteriosclerosis, lowers cholesterol.

Applications: Speedwell tea is a good addition to other blood-purifying teas, as it helps reduce arteriosclerosis. An annual speedwell tea cure can improve memory and, when combined with celery root, helps with nervous weakness, melancholy, and dizziness.

Tincture: A speedwell tincture is used externally as a rub for rheumatic and gout conditions.

Historical usage: The Romans learned about this valued healing plant from the Germans, who called it "ground-heal of all ills." Today, speedwell is also known as "all-heal" and "men's faithfulness," as the flowers quickly fall off when picked and placed in a vase.

Notes on the Herbal Education Trail

The abundance of Alpine flowers on the mountains from June to early August is a beautiful reward for the climb along the herbal education trail. In all these plants lies not only beauty but often health benefits as well. All the useful and beneficial gifts from nature can certainly not replace a doctor.

But taking responsibility for prevention and, above all, paying attention to our body’s signals in time is a very good step toward effective folk medicine. On behalf of the Plattform Planneralm 3000, I wish you much joy in rediscovering our natural world!
