Healing Properties

Expectorant, relieves cough irritation, antibacterial, promotes wound healing.

Applications: Plantain tea is an excellent cough remedy, suitable even for children, as it has almost no distinct taste. It is effectively used for all respiratory ailments, such as cough, whooping cough, asthma, and bronchitis.

A mixture of honey with plantain leaves, spruce tips, wild thyme, and coltsfoot is especially popular. Collect the herbs, infuse them in honey (in a sealable jar), and after two to three weeks, add a spoonful to cough tea as needed or enjoy it on its own.

Plantain tea as a wound compress should be changed every 5 hours. Use for injuries, skin inflammations, ulcers, and insect bites.

Notes on the Herbal Education Trail

The abundance of Alpine flowers on the mountains from June to early August is a beautiful reward for the climb along the herbal education trail. In all these plants lies not only beauty but often health benefits as well. All the useful and beneficial gifts from nature can certainly not replace a doctor.

But taking responsibility for prevention and, above all, paying attention to our body’s signals in time is a very good step toward effective folk medicine. On behalf of the Plattform Planneralm 3000, I wish you much joy in rediscovering our natural world!
