Eyebright
Euphrasia officinalis
Description
Creeping, up to 50 cm tall, annual hemiparasite with tiny oval leaves and small, toothed white flowers with yellow spots and a dark purple center, resembling an eye.

Healing Properties
Anti-inflammatory, astringent.
Applications: Eyebright tea is used exclusively for washes, thickening the eye mucous membranes, alleviating conjunctivitis and eyelid inflammation, and applied in cases of allergic and inflammatory conditions of the eyes, middle ear, sinuses, and nasal passages. Compresses soaked in eyebright tea relieve tired eyes.

Notes on the Herbal Education Trail
The abundance of Alpine flowers on the mountains from June to early August is a beautiful reward for the climb along the herbal education trail. In all these plants lies not only beauty but often health benefits as well. All the useful and beneficial gifts from nature can certainly not replace a doctor.
